York Inline was founded in 1993 by brothers Brett and Devon Cranson. The league has changed hands for the first time this year(2007). Here is a note to all past players coaches and volunteers from Devon and his family the creators of the league.

"Please understand, I/we are no longer involved with the operation of York Inline.  As many of you know last year we merged with Henley Sports (the company that owned the Mississauga Ice Dogs). It being very unfortuate, things didn't work out as planned.  Henley Sports took over full control of the business and has since sold the business to a new group headed by Gino Del Monte.  Gino has ensured me that he has an exciting season of roller hockey planned for 2007. I/we wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you for taking part in York Inline in the past, and I/we hope that you will continue to love the sport of roller hockey as much as I/we do.  Thank you for your continued support over the last 14 seasons" Devon Cranson and Family.

Started as the Spring Inline Skate Hockey League (SISHL), was a basic roller hockey league playing 5-on-5 at Clatworthy Arena in Thornhill. In 1995, SISHL became York Region Inline Hockey (YRIH) with the start of the Aurora league. In 1995, the YRIH joined the Ontario Regional Roller Hockey Association and adapted to the rules that were being played across North America at such events as NARCh, the North American Roller Hockey Championships. The York Thoroughblades were born, and played from 1995-1999 as a rep team in the Xtreme Roller Hockey Series, as well as the Major Junior A Roller Hockey League.

In 1999, YRIH continued to focus on the local programs, adding new players from the community of Caledon, as well as developing an Adult League. In 2000, the Thornhill league moved to Rosemount Arena. The 2003 year was a big season, as the league shortened its name to York Inline, The York Mission Triumph rep program was born(now is called YORK THRASHERS), as well as the new sport court roller surface being installed at Rosemount Arena.

Today, York Inline offers 6 different recreational programs for youth, and adults to residents in North York, Richmond Hill, Thornhill and Vaughan.

Under new direction for 2007 season,  Gino Del Monte (GM -Womens National Team) League owner will continue to bring our league into the new era of roller hockey. " We want all players to enjoy playing for the social & physical aspects of our game. Roller hockey is a  great sport all on it's own, but for all of us who love ice hockey. It sure makes you a more complete ice player when it comes to the skills of stickhandling, goal scoring, offensive awareness and of course defensive angling." .We the league are always looking and moving in a forward direction in satisfying and fulfiling all particpants in our sport... In our yungest youth groups we will always try and have a national team player out there sharing some knowledge and instruction to our young players.

The York Thrashers development program consists of representative teams that develop through intense instruction and practising, along with participation in local, regional and national events. These teams have developed a strong reputation at the North American Roller Hockey Championships (NARCh).

York Inline runs annual tournaments, including rep tournaments, house league tournaments and adult tournaments. York Inline also runs day camps in the summer months.  Where players can enjoy roller hockey instruction and games along with outdoor sports.

York Inline is a proud member of theOMRHA and NIHA.
